Supermodels
   This is the term coined in the early 1980s that refers to highly paid, highly sought-after fashion models, many of which achieved celebrity status. Examples of supermodels who were at the peak of supermodel mania were Patti Hansen, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Iman, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Rene Russo, and later Kate Moss. Francesco Scavullo, a Cosmopolitan magazine fashion photographer for thirty years, is believed to have originated the supermodel concept by featuring these and other celebrities on the cover of the magazine in sexy, sensual poses. Today, the frenzy has died down but every so often a few models such as Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen reach the rank.
